Instruction
"...being ready always to satisfy every one that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you." (1 Peter 3.15)
Instruction in the Orthodox Faith is provided for parishioners (children and adults), catechumens and inquirers.
Church School
On Sundays, Church School children are taught the stories of the Faith while adults attend Lauds. Church School begins at 8:45 a.m., and continues during Lauds.
Bible Study
On Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m., a verse by verse explanation on a particular book of the Bible is presented. Currently, the class is studying the Acts of the Apostles using the Ancient Christian Commentary.
All Bible instruction uses the newly published Orthodox Study Bible or the Douay-Rheims. (The Orthodox Study Bible includes a new literal translation of the Septuagint with the New King James translation for the New Testament. The Douay-Rheims is a translation of the Vulgate, the historic Western Orthodox scriptural text.) All explanations and interpreations are based on the interpretation of the church fathers.
Didache
Inter-generational instruction in the Orthodox Faith is offered during six consecutive Sundays in the Spring, and eight consecutive Sundays in the Fall. These studies are held immediately after Mass, and include a family style meal. Check back for specific dates and topics.
